Crypto and visual artist, Lily-K creates a wide range of artworks and illustrations, from jazz art she portrays the genuine atmosphere of musicians on stage to the cute pop collective NFT art, such as her famous Kimono Girlfriends series.

Lily-K was born and grew up in Kyoto, Japan.
After graduating from high school, she entered a liberal arts college in the United States, graduated cum laude, and received an honorable mention on her thesis from the Department of Cultural Anthropology.
While in college, she minored in Fine Art and took various art courses, including drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, papermaking, and some art history courses.
She participated in a summer art camp in France directed by her mentor artist, Prof. Richard Kleeman, where she intensively worked on ink and watercolor paintings.
After coming home to Japan from France, she continued to pursue art. With a full scholarship from Osaka College of Art and she explored more art, majoring in Printmaking. Etching and Aquatint on copper plates primarily interested her because she found it so amusing that there is so much uncontrolable in the medium. And she enjoyed challenging to control the uncontrollable aspects of prints. She exhibited her prints and paintings and had won several awards.
She was invited to teach at Osaka College of Art soon after graduation, and taught drawing, introductory design courses, and English classes there for over 17 years. She also worked as the advisor for students who wished to transfer to affiliated art colleges in the United States and England.
Although she could not work on art for a long time for some family reasons, by getting a second-hand Ipad, she came back as a digital artist creating NFT in 2021.
Lily Kuroda is currently working as a coordinator for foreign researchers at a renowned international research institute in Kyoto. She is also a writer and an educator of English. She is writing her first book on some thoughts and ideas about how the Japanese should set their mind when trying to acquire English based on her own experiences. The book is expected to be published from Shueisha in 2022.

京都生まれ。堀川高校卒業後、米国ペンシルバニア州の四年制大学に留学。
Cultural Anthropology（文化人類学）を専攻するも、社会学系は、英語で読み書きがメイン。尋常でない「読み系」の課題（もちろん英語）に押し潰されそうになる。専攻なので単位を落とすわけにいかない。専攻以外にも、Sciense（理系）とHumanity（文系）の必修科目を取る必要があったため、せめてそのあたりは「読み系」の課題が無いものを選ばなきゃと考えた結果、「あ、ファインアートだ！」とひらめく。
（ちなみに理系は数学とコンピューターサイエンスでしのぐ。数学は大の苦手だったが、アメリカの数学は「ん？」と思うほど簡単で、クラスで1番の成績を取ってしまい、「数学に専攻変えようか？」と危うく錯覚に陥ったほど）
早速、アートを履修しようと登録に出かけるも、アメリカ人も同じことを考えていたようで（笑）、手軽そうなDrawing（デッサン）やPainting（絵画）は定員いっぱい締切。仕方なく、ただ一つ空きがあった、Sculptureを登録。「すかるぷちゃ」って一体なんだ？と思いつつ、自室に帰って辞書ひいて愕然！
彫刻！え？ちょーこく？？
脳裏に仏像が出現する。とほほ。
がしかし、やってみるとコレが思いほか楽しかった。何をしろと言われてるのかよくわかんないまま、見よう見まねで創作した石膏の抽象彫刻に、教授からもクラスメイトから大絶賛を浴び、キャンパスアートショーに出せと言われ、はいはい、と出品したところ、なんと200ドルで売れてしまった！

紙漉き
特に、版画と紙漉きにはドはまりした。
版画は、木版画、シルクスクリーン、リトグラフ（石版画）、銅版画を学び、中でも、銅版画のコントロール不能なハプニングの面白さにワクワク。刷り台やあぶり台、アクアティント用の箱など、機材や設備をそろえることができるならもう一度やりたいが、個人的にそろえるのは非現実的。版画ほど「学校施設」で学ぶべきものは無いなと思った。
そして、アメリカで学んだ紙漉きは、なんちゅうかダイナミックで、創作するマインド自体を学ぶような興味深い体験だった。
アメリカでの絵の師匠Dick Kleeman教授が自分で編み出したのかよくわかんないが、ちょっと言葉では説明できない摩訶不思議なやり方で1ｍ四方くらいのデッカイ紙を漉く。必須は水吸える掃除機とリステリンだった（？ですよね）。紙漉いてる途中で絵を描き加えたり（で、滲むのを楽しむ）、何でもあり感がとても面白かった。（アートだけはオールAの成績で、成績の全体的な底上げに貢献してくれたおかげで、Cum Laudで卒業）
帰国後は、大阪芸大の附属専門学校で、デッサンと基礎造形、そして英語を教える。
アクリル画や水彩、コラージュ、造形作品などでグループ展などに参加して作家活動をしていたが、結婚・出産のブランクを経て、近年で魏たるアートの分野で活動を再開。NFTなどを手掛けている。
